A special note from Doug Flicker:

It is with a full heart that I would like to announce the closing of my restaurant. Piccolo has been the realization of a dream that allowed me to cook with my heart for the last 7 years. Simply put, times change and so have we. Amy and I are working on new projects and we look forward to sharing them with you as they finalize. In the meantime, I do hope to see you at Sandcastle on Lake Nokomis in the summers and Esker Grove at the Walker Art Center.

Piccolo would never have been the success it was without the endless work of an amazing group of talented individuals, the love and partnership of my wife Amy, as well as my original business partner, Jim Andrus, and you the dining public. I truly appreciate the time we had together at Piccolo.

Thank you,

Doug Flicker

2017 and Beyond

Piccolo will close on Saturday, March 11th, 2017. Two of Chef Doug Flicker’s current staff, Chef de Cuisine Cameron Cecchini and Cook Grisha Hammes, will be revamping the space to open Tenant Restaurant in spring 2017. They are amazingly skilled and will be a great boon to the food community.

Creativity

Chef Doug Flicker believes the importance of creativity is to be constantly evolving. Creativity is wonderment, discovery, combining everyday items to get something new. This is not an end in itself but towards the creation of a memorable dining experience. Creativity can bring the nostalgia of yesterday as well as marking a place in time now.

We believe in changing our menu frequently, buying locally and seasonally whenever possible, and putting a significant amount of time and devotion into each beautifully presented plate. The menu is designed to allow guests a chance to create a different dining experience with each visit, pairing risk with reward. You could say that choice is the defining characteristic of Piccolo, allowing people to dine according to their desires and appetite.

Dining at Piccolo is an intimate experience. It is a small restaurant where you sit close to your neighbors. You may pass through the kitchen on the way to the seating in the Kitchen Dining Room. Service is friendly and conversational. You will find cookbooks and mementos of the chef around the restaurant.
